Polls open at 7 a.m. in the morning and close at 10 p.m. at night.
If you’re not sure what you do when you get to your allotted polling station, check out this link http://www.aboutmyvote.co.uk/how-do-i-vote/voting-in-person# .
A common question appears to be : Do you need to take your polling card with you? The answer is no, you don’t.
To quote Peter Seib:
“When you go to the polling station tomorrow, please make sure that the “tellers” outside the door make a note that you have voted. A good way to identify yourself is to show your polling card which has your polling number on it.
They aren’t interested in how you voted at all (and shouldn’t ask), they’re just trying to make sure you don’t get “knocked up” unnecessarily into the evening as the parties try to get out the vote. We cross people off on the Electoral Register and then chase people who have not yet voted, who may be sympathetic.
It’s considered good practice by the Electoral Commission and the parties normally cooperate fully with each other in the exercise.”
Why should you vote for me (Rob Stickland) and my two colleagues Tony Lock and David Recardo (and Manny Roper for Town Council) Apologies if you aren’t in our Ward but we have excellent candidates standing in all SSDC Wards.
(p.s Don’t forget to vote for David Laws too!!)
- Between us we have a wealth of experience and enthusiasm. Myself personally this is my first election as a District and Town Candidate. I haven’t taken that lightly and to make sure I was fully aware of what was involved I attended Council meetings as a member of public to see for myself the Council in action and read extensively on the subject.
- I bring to the table a fresh enthusiasm, with experience of youth services and youth football. I have experience of dementia, being a carer for my mother. I also bring to the table an open mind a fresh view and as those around me will tell you, I am not afraid to have my say. Tony and David, being councillors in the previous administration bring the experience, making the three of us a really good mix.
- I am aligned with the Liberal Democrats as I believe theirs is the closest political outlook to my own. I have also looked at their record in local government, the sensible budget responsibility etc, so what’s not to like. The SSDC Manifesto is linked to from my home page, I believe that everyone should be treated equal, regardless of background and financial status.
- Another thing that the other Party’s with candidates standing for Yeovil East won’t tell you is that we are the only Party where all three District candidates and four Town candidates actually live within the bounds of Yeovil East. Local candidates for local people, living in the community with you.
Thank you to everyone who has helped and advised along this journey, I couldn’t have got this far without the fantastic support I’ve had and look forward, if elected to serving the community I live in at Council level.
So many reasons to vote Liberal Democrat for SSDC, Yeovil Town Council and David Laws for MP
“With the Liberal Democrats leading SSDC, the council is debt-free and this year has cut Council Tax without any cuts to frontline services.”
From the SSDC Manifesto http://www.yeovil-libdems.org.uk/ssdc:
“continue working with the health and voluntary sectors to address the effects of dementia, depression and other mental health issues affecting our residents…”
